From the jacket flap: "Ernest Hemingway left the world a generous legacy in these sketches of his early life in Paris in the Twenties." During this time he was friends with, and interacted with the likes of F. Scott Fitzgerald, Gertrude Stein, Ezra Pound, James Joyce, Sylvia Beach and many others. Includes a section of plates bearing b&w photos of people & scenes from the book. Laid in is a new introduction, dated 1988, by Jane Kramer in stapled wraps. Volume bears the original publication date of 1964 but likely published c.1988. --- In green marble-look paper-covered boards backed in rust cloth with author facsimile gilt signature on cover and titling & decorations in gilt on spine, olive topstain. Jacket with painting of Pont Neuf (Paris) by Hildegard Rath on the front, and a portrait of Hemingway painted by Henry Strater on the back. --- An about-Near Fine copy: tightly-bound, clean and bright though with speck of soiling to textblock fore-edge. Dust jacket with moderate sunng to spine, creases & chafing at head of spine, otherwise bright, undamaged and in removable mylar protector.; Octavo - 8 to 9 in. tall; [12], 211 pages .

Synopsis

A Moveable Feast is a set of memoirs by American author Ernest Hemingway about his years in Paris as part of the American expatriate circle of writers in the 1920s. In addition to painting a picture of Hemingway's time as a struggling young writer, the book also sketches the story of Hemingway and his first wife, Hadley. Published after his death, A Moveable Feast is considered by many to contain some of his best writing.
