NY: Knopf, 1949. Hardcover. Very Good/Good. 8vo. 183pp. Book club edition. VG/G+. Green vinyl boards lightly bumped at the corners, with shelfwear and rubbing at spine ends and tips. Textblock moderately toned. Some splitting along interior gutters, doesn't affect binding stability. Dust jacket shows moderate edgewear and rubbing, several small chips out at the spine ends, and an area of light dampstaining at top fore-edge of front panel. Spine panel unfaded. A decent placeholder copy of the first Lew Archer novel, scarce in any format.
