About This Item

Little Brown and Company. Softcover. Very Good. Moxyland by Lauren Beukes (ISBN: 9780316267915): "Moxyland" by Lauren Beukes is a dystopian science fiction novel that takes readers into a near-future world where technology, surveillance, and corporate power reign supreme. Set in a gritty and cyberpunk-inspired Cape Town, the novel follows the lives of four interconnected characters as they navigate a world of government control and corporate manipulation. Beukes' narrative explores themes of identity, rebellion, and the consequences of a hyper-connected society. "Moxyland" is a thrilling and thought-provoking work that offers a chilling glimpse into a not-so-distant future where the boundaries between reality and virtuality blur, and resistance takes on new forms. Crisp, clean, unread book with some shelfwear/edgewear. May have remainder marks, often with a black dot or similar mark, to the top or bottom edge of the book.

Synopsis

Lauren Beukes is a writer, TV scriptwriter and recovering journalist (although she occasionally falls off the wagon). She has an MA in Creative Writing, but she got her real education in ten years of freelance journalism, learning really useful skills like how to pole-dance and make traditional sorghum beer. For the sake of a story, she's jumped out of planes and into shark-infested waters and got to hang out with teen vampires, township vigilantes, AIDS activists and homeless sex workers among other interesting folk. When she's not tutoring her baby daughter (aka the queen of eeeeeeevil) in practical ways to take over the world, she also writes books, short stories, magazine articles and TV scripts various. Her non-fiction book, Maverick was nominated for the Sunday Times 2006 Alan Paton Non-Fiction Book of the Year competition. The author lives in Cape Town, South Africa.
