About This Item
Berkeley: University of California Press, 1976. First Edition. Hardcover. Fine/Near fine. Important biographical study of the English-born photographer renowned for his pioneering work in studies of motion, and early work in motion picture projection. Among other things, Haas untangles the different versions of Muybridge's work for Governor Leland Stanford, which was intended to settle an apocryphal $25,000 wager as to whether a trotting horse can have all four feet off the ground at once. Inscribed and dated by the author on the title page. Oblong octavo. Original black buckram binding, with gilt titles. A fine copy in a nearly fine dust jacket with just a hint of rubbing.
