Synopsis

Xavier-Marie Bonnot was born in Marseille in 1962 and lives in Paris. After earning his Ph D in History and Literature, he worked on television documentaries about the French legal system.  With his first novel, La Première empreinte (2002), he won the Rompol Prix, the Prix des Marsellais and was shortlisted for the Prix SNCF.  His next novel, starring the commissioner Michel de Palma, La bête du Marais (2004), was shortlisted for the Rompol.  He then published La voix du loup (2006) and Les âmes sans nom (2009). The novels of Xavier-Marie Bonnot are meticulously researched and vividly written, accurately addressing subjects ranging from prehistory and legends of Provence to terrorism, reaching the boundaries of the supernatural and fantasy, into territories where it mixes the past with the present. Its main character, Michel De Palma, alias "The Baron", is a humane police officer with a passion for opera. The books of Xavier-Marie Bonnot have been translated into English, German and Italian.
