Description

New York: Dodd, Mead and Company, 1913. Hardcover. Small 8vo. Green blind-embossed cloth with gilt lettering. 344pp. Near fine. Faintest of edgewear. Bright 'n' tight first edition of this scarce white slavery fiction, with lovely giltstamping. Robins (1862-1952) was a Kentucky-born actress with a successful stage career in England, where her interests drifted to writing fiction and nonfiction and veered into women's rights and other reforms. Lacks the rare dust jacket, else a sharp copy of a quite scarce title, of which a silent film version starring Evelyn Nesbit was released in 1919.
