About This Item
New York: Harcourt, Brace & World, Inc, 1964. First Edition. Manuscript. Good. Original typescript for William O. Steele's 1964 children's story. 61 unbound, single-sided leaves with holograph corrections. Good, bumped at all four corners, multiple leaves with small chips and tears at the edges. Included is a typed postcard from Steele to Sister M. Rosamond of Holy Family College in Manitowoc, Wisconsin. Steele addresses the sister's idea for a television show about children's books, relaying a short-lived CBS program with the same idea. Also included is an ex-library first edition of the book as well as a letter from Anna Bier, copy editor of HBW's children's book department, stating that William O. Steele passes along the manuscript to Rosamond. A truly unique item.
