In brown leatherette with gilt title to spine and gilt sketch of mountain scene/explorer on front. Quite clean and completely unmarked with minimal wear to corners. Sewn binding tight, solid and square. Ivory linen endpapers. Pages of glossy paper. 220 illustrations. 60 maps portraying National Geographic's 112- year history of exploration, with first- hand accounts by such adventurers as Roald Amundsen, Scott Amundsen, Jacques Cousteau, Edmund Hillary, Richard Byrd, and many more.
