Cover has minor wear and soiling. National Geographic is the official magazine of the National Geographic Society. It has been published continuously since its first issue in 1888, nine months after the Society itself was founded. It primarily contains articles about geography, history, and world culture. The magazine is known for its extensive use of dramatic photographs. The magazine is published monthly, and additional map supplements are also included with subscriptions. On occasion, special editions of the magazine are issued. This issue includes: Many-splendored Glacierland with Map and 46 Illustrations (40 in Natural Colors) by George W. Long and Kathleen Revis; Minuteman of the Civil Air Patrol with 28 Illustrations (22 in Natural Colors) by Allan C. Fisher and John E. Fletcher; The Camargue, Land of Cowboys and Gypsies with Map and 30 Illustrations (19 in Natural Colors) by Eugene L. Kammerman; Maytime Miracle in Sherwood Gardens with 10 Illustration in Natural Colors by Nathaniel T. Kenney; Jungle Journeys in Sarawak with Map with 25 Illustrations by Hedda Morrison. Hedwig Marie "Hedda" Morrison (née Hammer; 13 December 1908 - 3 December 1991) was a German photographer who created memorable documentary images of Beijing, Hong Kong and Sarawak from the 1930s to the 1960s. Eugene Louis Kammerman was a passionate of photography who arrived with the American GI's on the beaches of Normandy in 1944.
