Boston: L. Prang and Company, 1879. Leather bound. Very good. 2 vols.: ix, 192; 200 p. 27 cm. 48 chromolithographic plates in each volume. Green half leather. New spine labels. Board reattached. Moderate wear to extremities.

The author was founder of "Meehan’s Monthly" and editor of "Gardener’s Monthly." These are the first two volumes in a set of four. Beautiful plates by Austrian-born watercolour painter Alois Lunzer who specialised in botanical illustrations. The publisher, Louis Prang, is best known as the "father of the American Christmas card" but was also a general printer and lithographer.
