A comprehensive study of the ritual Naven practiced by the Iatmul, a head-hunting tribe from New Guinea, performed to congratulate tribe members on completion of notable accomplishments, including homicide. Includes specific reference to the transvestitism and ritual homosexuality represented. Written by Gregory Bateson, an English anthropologist, social scientist, and linguist. In the original light blue cloth binding. Externally, very smart with light shelf wear and minor bumping to the extremities. Minor fading to the spine. Original unclipped dust wrapper is also smart with light wear and minor chipping to the extremities. Sunning to the spine and the odd mark to the board. The odd small closed tear to the extremities. Small ink mark to the rear flap. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean. Previous owner's ink stamp to the front endpaper. Very Good Indeed
