About This Item

In Εnglish (also available in French and Greek). Cloth, 29x24 cm, 282 pp., ill.: 270 images.

After the creation of the Modern Greek State in the 19th century, neoclassical architecture became very popular throughout Greece. Ancient Greek monuments served as models for the Greek and European architects who designed the buildings of Athens and many of the provincial towns. In this volume are presented public buildings, churches, wealthy mansion-houses and humble dwellings, and also grave monuments and statues. The representative examples give a comprehensive picture of Greek neoclassical architecture.
