Third edition of the work, in the publisher's original brown cloth. First published in the same year. Complete in one volume. Written by English historian and prolific traveller, William Hepworth Dixon. This work follows Dixon's exploration of 'New' America, with chapters on Kansas, Sierra Madre, the Western country and a settlement in Utah, amongst many others. With six engraved plate illustrations, including a frontispiece of Main Street, Salt Lake City. Collated, complete. In the publisher's original brown cloth. Externally, generally smart, with slight rubbing to the extremities. Light bumping to the extremities and to the head and tail of the spine. A touch of fading to the spine and the odd mark to boards, mainly to the rear. Internally, generally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean, with the odd spot. Small tidemark to the right upper corner of pages 190-300, not affecting text. Very Good
