London: Religious Tract Society,, 1833.. 1833 iv, 104 p. Wood engravings in the text. First edition. 14 cm. Modern cloth binding, titled on the spine. All edges gilt. A popular reader, successor to Eleanor Fenn's Cobwebs to Catch Flies and with a similar arrangement of sentences of words of three, four, and five letters and then words of an increasing number of syllables. Ink presentation inscription on the preserved original endpaper ' Mary Palmer Maidencourt [East Garston, Berks.] 11th Nov. 1838. With Aunt Williams kind love.'
