(San Francisco): The New Music Society of California, 1935. Softcover. Very Good. Periodical. Quarto. Measuring approximately 10½" x 13¾". 16pp. Stapled wrappers. Modest creasing throughout, very good and sound. This issue features "Spiral: Movement for Violin and Piano" by Mexican composer and conductor Carlos Chávez, and four compositions by a young Paul Bowles: "Cafe Sin Nombre," "From 'Danger de Mort IV [and] VI'" (lyrics by Georges Linze), "Letter to Freddy" (lyrics by Gertrude Stein), and "From 'Scenes d'Anabase'" (lyrics by Saint-Jean Perse). An uncommon early publication of Paul Bowles compositions, published when he was only 24, with lyrics by Gertrude Stein and future Nobel Laureate Saint-John Perse.
