Boston: Roberts Brothers, 1877. 12mo, original blue cloth, gilt spine title, title stampd in black on upper cover, leaf-patterned endpapers. Pages un-numbered, 150 b&w illus., 2 pp. publisher ads. An attractive 1870s edition of Lear's Nonsense Songs. Includes "The Jumblies," the "Owl and the Pussy-Cat," "Four Little Children," and "History of the Seven Families," as well ad nonsense recipes for Amblongus Pie; the botanical impossibilities of "Phattfacia Stupenda" and an alphabet of limericks. CONDITION: Good, small losses at head and foot of spine, rubbed, early gift inscription on flyleaf, occasional foxing, a mostly clean and sound copy.
