London: Sampson Low, Marston, Low and Searle, 1882 pp x + 505; vii + 504 + ads. Inscribed by Weppner to front free endpaper: "To Mr & Mrs Henry Bush, with the kindly wishes from Margaretha Weppner. Port Townsend, December 5th, 1884". Weppner was a German language teacher who sailed from France to the US in 1869, thence to Japan, China, Saigon, Singapore, Java and Batavia, then back to Singapore, Calcutta, Delhi, Bombay, Suez, Cairo, Alexandria and finally back to Munich, Germany. Henry Bush, to whom the book is inscribed, was the United States Shipping Commissioner at Port Townsend. Condition: almost Fine, with light shelfwear to the covers, and light rubbing to the spine gilt.. Signed by author. American edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine.
