A novel about an independent newspaper editor in the northern part of England struggling to keep his newspaper free from the influence of a monopoly and to keep his journalistic integrity. A. J. Cronin (1896-1981) was a Scottish novelist and physician. Many of his best known works were adapted to film. Tan quarter cloth, red lettered over green cloth wrapped boards; clean, no marks, with rubbed edges, light corner wear, top corner gently bumped, a scuff on bottom rear edge near the corner. Rough cut. Internals are very clean and free from any markings, no creases. A good reading copy. 252 pages. 5.75 x 8.5 inches. Publisher: Little, Brown and Co., Boston and Toronto,1958.
