Northwest Passage by Roberts, Kenneth - 1939

New York: Doubleday, Doran & Company, 1939 Roberts (1885-1957) was an American author who is remembered today for his eight fiction titles but he actually was a journalist (Saturday Evening Post) and wrote non-fiction before writing popular historical fiction. His first venture into fiction was the four part Chronicles of Arundel published between 1931 and 1944. His next venture was Northwest Passage first published on July 25, 1937. The sale item is the thirtieth printing from November 15, 1939. Brown cloth binding with blind-stamped illustration on front board, and gold letterin and black block on spine. Maps on front and back end pages. Binding is clean and relatively bright for the age of the book; because of the number of pages and the weight, there is a bit of looseness. Unclipped dust jacket is showing its age; chipping at top and bottom. Repairs have been made and jacket is now Brodart covered to prevent further deterioration.
