Good binding and cover. 24 cm. 397 pages, 13 maps (4 folding) & tinted plates, including large folding frontis map. Presentation inscription from Thompson and Carmichael to the Davenport Academy of Natural Sciences. Darkening to end pages. Squier served as charge d'affaires to Central America for the US in 1849, the first of a number of posts in Central America which led to him becoming, "perhaps the best single authority on the Central America of the period" (DAB). Sabin 89981.
