About This Item
St. Louis, MO: Nixon-Jones Ptg. Co, 1911. 8vo. 207pp. Portrait. Original gilt-stamped gray cloth (somewhat soiled); owner's name, scattered foxing, but very good. Second edition (first published in 1909), the "Souvenir Edition." The author served in the 7th Tennessee Cavalry under Forrest. Howes H-751. Nevins I, p.108: "The author's service as a member of Forrest's cavalry gives this work great appeal, in spite of the fact that it was written a half century after the war without refreshing materials."
