New York: Simon and Schuster, 1934. Brown cloth, printed paper title labels to spine and front board, top edge blue, in mylar protected dust-jacket, (7.75 x 5.75 inches). First Edition/First Printing in First Issue dust-jacket. 1934 date on both title page and copyright page with no indication of further printings, first issue jacket, priced at $2.00, with long blurbs on the flaps and back cover but no excerpts from reviews and no Pulitzer sticker. 231 pages with a page of publisher's advertisements at rear. SIGNED by author (Josephine Johnson) on publisher's presentation label to [Harry Korner] Korner Wood Co. A desirable and collectable ASSOCIATION copy belonging to Harry Korner. With associated typed letters from Simon and Schuster to Mr. Korner one introducing the book and the other thanking him for his "pre-publication enthusiasm." And two letters from The Inner Sanctum of Simon and Schuster one to Mr. Korner thanking him for his letter of congratulations on the book and the other letter to to a Mr. Norris, signed by M. Lincoln Schuster. The book is a clean, tight and bright copy in a jacket showing very minor wear; overall an exceptional copy of this 1935 Pulitzer Prize winning book, with a collection of letters from the publisher laid-in.. Signed. First Edition. Cloth. Fine/Near Fine. Octavo. Presentation Copy.
