The lengthy history of Europe's preoccupation with the occupation of Egypt from the time of Alexander to the Suez Crisis. In particular, Blaxland focuses on the long-standing strategic rivalry between France and Britain for the control of Egypt and North Africa. From the library of Bruce Bryan, the long time curator of the Southwest Museum of the American Indian in Los Angeles, with his bookplate to the front pastedown. The dust jacket is price-clipped and a bit shelfworn, with a small scuff to the top corner of the front panel; otherwise a very good copy.
