Illustrated dustwrapper. This book, a companion volume to Australian Bush Ballads is the first really comprehensive collection of Australia's Bush songs ever to be published. Its nucleus is "Banjo" Paterson's well loved "Old Bush Songs", which has long been out of print, and whose title the editors have retained, but they have taken the opportunity of preserving a great deal of allied composition of the early days, verses by convicts, the first colonial ballads and broadsheets, and similar material. Details of sources and explanatory notes are included and the editors' methods are discussed in an introductory essay. the dust jacket is chipped, and torn with some loss on the bottom left of the front panel with short tears to the top edge of the dust jacket.
