A first limited edition copy of this fascinating reference work on sporting works, providing a critical survey of such sports as racing, hunting, couching, shooting, and fishing in England. This work is copiously illustrated throughout by such notable illustrators as Samuel Alken, Halbot K. Brown ("Phiz"), George and Robert Cruikshank, William Hogarth, and John Leech. Collated complete, with one hundred and seven plates, twenty four of which are in colour with protective tissue guards. This edition is limited to one thousand five hundred copies, of which this is number '1162'. In the publisher's original cloth binding with gilt title to front board and spines. Externally, slight bumping to extremities and head and tail of spine. Slight fading to spine. Internally firmly bound. Pages slightly age toned to edges, but very bright and clean throughout.
