This is the hardcover edition, with a quarter beige cloth-wrapped spine & the remaining boards covered in orange paper, imprinted with a copper-colored cat to front cover & copper lettering to spine. 56 pages, with Gorey illustrations on nearly every one! A FIRST EDITION, First (A) printing from 1982, it is in Near Fine condition, marred only by mild foxing to the cloth binding & endpapers. Else, completely clean, binding tight & square, pages creamy white & unmarked. The price-clipped DJ is VG, downgraded due to fading to spine & upper edges, with light chipping & rubbing to both ends of spine; nicely protected in new clear mylar cover Free! equally pristine, with no fading or edgewear. THOMAS STEARNS ELIOT was born in 1888 in St. Louis, Missouri, and became a British subject in 1927. The acclaimed poet of The
Waste Land
, Four Quartets, and Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, among numerous other poems, prose, and works of drama,
won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1948. T.S. Eliot died in 1965 in London, England, and is buried in Westminster Abbey.
