Richard Leakey's first official job as the administrative director of Kenya's National Museum began the very week that he contract a serious kidney disease - one which would affect his life from that moment onwards. Like his father Louis, Richard was born in Kenya and raised as an African. Richard learned from both his parents about prehistoric Africa, and he relates how he finally became involved in the study of human ancestry. This involvement ultimately led to his leadership of Kenya's museums. He lives now with his wife meave and 2 of his 3 daughters in Nairobi. He continues to be deply involved with the search for early human ancestors, as well as with the many facets of science which he encounters as Director of Africa's leading museum. 207 pages. I'm also including the article from Time magazine Nov. 7, 1977 on Richard Leakey's cover story - Puzzling Out Man's Ascent, 10 pages..
