About This Item
In addition, also included is a ninth printing of Willkie's One World (NY: Simon and Schuster, 1943), in original printed wraps. Condition is good, with former owner name on front cover; light wear consistent with age. The presidential aspirant (1940) who, during a campaign trip to China, was wooed (and purportedly seduced) by Madame Chiang Kai Shek, presents his plea for a world cohesion at the very time the world was most splintered. Suffice it to say Willkie's uncritical view of China's National Government leadership, as evinced here, is a bit rosy. The LEC edition is supported by generous inclusion of photos.
The book documents his tour around the world, dispatched by his victor, President Franklin D. Roosevelt, and the Life-magazine type photography here is quite striking. The 159th volume in the publisher's series of signed limited editions.
