Description: Includes one black and white fold-out plate. The title page is printed in red and black. Chapter headings also in red (rust rather). A self-published book comprised of several papers presented at the Chit-Chat Club, a group that met on Mondays. Includes essays ''Of Shoes and Ships and Sealing'' (about Louis Sloss's life in Germany, the formation of the Alaska Commercial Company, and the Sloss family in general) and ''Locus Sigilli'' (about the Pribilof Islands in Alaska). The text is preceded by: ''Recollections'' by Helen Sloss Lucy; ''For My Father'' by David L Sloss, and ''One Word More'' by Eleanor L Sloss, and the author's own foreword.
