John Phin, enticed by a wide variety of subjects, sought to reconcile Christianity with nineteenth-century science with works such as his 'Natural History of Hell' and 'The Chemical History of the Six Days of Creation.' However, he was also skilled in the art of wine-making, this being his comprehensive guide to the novice.
