First edition, in the publisher's original cloth binding with a tree motif to the front board. Written by English nature writer, John RIchard Jefferies, who was known for his work on English rural life in essays, natural history books and novels. This work is comprised of twenty-one essays about the countryside and natural history. These papers were originally published individually in various British periodicals including 'The Standard', 'English Illustrated Magazine', Longman's Magazine', 'St. James's Gazette', 'Chamber's Journal', 'Manchester Guardian', 'Good Words' and 'Pall Mall Gazette'.Thirty-two pages of advertisements to the rear of the work. In the publisher's original cloth binding. Externally, generally smart, with light bumping to the extremities and small tear to the cloth at the head of the spine. Darkening to the spine and the odd mark to boards. Ink inscription to the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright and clean. Very Good
