About This Item

London: , 1824. Comparing Ricardo and Smith First edition of both parts, offprinted from The Pamphleteer vols. XXIII and XXIV. The anonymous author, possibly John Cazenove, gives a fair and reasoned account of Ricardo's theory of value, and concludes that "These two systems of A. Smith and Mr. Ricardo are not contradictory to each other, but both are correct in the peculiar sense which each of them attaches to the term value". The author is one of the very few contemporaries who appreciated Malthus's pamphlet on The Measure of Value. Octavo (214 x 134 mm). Recent green boards, paper label to spine. An excellent, clean copy. Sraffa 4413.
