A Modern Library edition offering a guide to the predictions of the French astrologer, physician and prophet Michel de Nostredame (1503-1566), best known as "Nostradamus." Many historic events are believed to have been predicted by Nostradamus, such as the rise of Napoleon and Hitler, and the use of atomic weapons. --- In Toledano spine 8 / blue cloth / gilt titling on red spine & cover blocks / red topstain / grey Kent endpapers / jacket style h, verso lists titles in ML catalog. Likely published c.1947 (though 1940 date appears in book). ML #81.3. --- With bookseller sticker and price pasted to corner of front free endpaper, otherwise a clean, unmarked, tightly-bound copy. Fair-only, unclipped dust jacket with large open tear to front panel, additional small tears and creasing to edges but remaining mostly intact and wrapped in removable archival mylar protector.; 12mo - 7 to 7-1/2 in. tall; xxvi, 366 pages .
