Description

London: Valentine. Very Good- with no dust jacket. 1919. Unknown. Soft Cover. Original Vintage Mabel Lucie Attwell Postcard - Highly Un-PC nowadays! The stamp/date on the reverse shows 1919. The image in a single red and chequered patterned border is of a Pretty Little Black Girl with a big bow in her hair and around her waist. The text in blue beneath the image reads - " Kiss Me! I'll Keep It Dark". A 'humorous' sentiment very much of the period! . The address and message on the back is in pencil and the stamp stamped "Bridlington ... 25 JUN 19". Overall a generally clean and tidy card, but with a few light marks/corner tip rubs, but a nice example of the earlier style M. L. A . Artwork, and an interesting example of the completely oblivious modes of thought of the day to colour, etc. For International buyers, postage paid on postcards will be highly reduced to 'at cost' when the item is processed, but initially your purchase will show the higher 'up to 1 kilo' cost.
