Description

London England: William Heinemann Ltd, 1991. Paperback. Orwell. The Authorised Biography. Message to previous owner on Dedication page. Slight mark to top edge. Writing this book would have been a little easier if Eric Blair had chosen ro write his books under his own name. How should a biographer refer to him? Should one call him Blair or Orwell? He was nearly thirty when he decided to make George Orwell his pseudonym, but he never legally adopted it, and his family and oldest friends never stopped using his real name. I call him by both names. In the early chapters I try to maintain a sharp distinction between the life of the young person named Eric Blair and the later reflections on that life by the writer known as George Orwell. But at the point in the story when Blair chooses his pseudonym, I close the gap and almost always refer to the man and the writer by one name only - Orwell. Illustrated. 564 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions, Reference books ,and all types of Academic Literature.). Reprint. Soft Cover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" Tall Octavo. Trade Paperback.
