(Adelaide: J.L. Bonython and Co., The Advertiser Office: 1894) First Edition. Half leather bound (that is, hard covers) pp. xii, 72. Caldwell went North with the Pastoral Lands Royal Commission, of which he was Chairman, in 1890, and this is an account, in verse: as he puts it, practically a metrical description of Central Australia (p. v). Illustrated from photographs (Scott Barry, Photo-Block, Adelaide). With signed presentation inscription at head of Preface To May Edwards of Oakbank [? Hard to read as top half of line trimmed off] School as a recognition of her success at the Exhibition of 1897 from Robert Caldwell (the top line of the inscription was shaved when the binder trimmed the leaves for binding). First Edition. Extremities of leather rubbed; a few stains to front cloth; some scattered light stains to the title-page and a few elsewhere; overall a very good copy.
