GVG. 219 pp. A collection of pieces published in the Kennebec Journal and the Lewiston Evening Journal during the 1940's -1960's. Illustrated with black and white photographs. Topics include Augusta landmarks, seasonal essays, and a number of biographical sketches. Of particular interest are biographies of Elijah Kellogg, Holman Day, and C.A.Stephens, plus a report of naturalist John Burroughs' trip to the Moxie Lake region in the mid-1880's. White paper wrappers sunned along spine, lightly soiled and a bit dog-eared; but pages are clean, and well attached in covers.
