This deluxe limited edition from the Easton Press is a facsimile recreation of the original edition of this work first published in 24 fortnightly serial parts in 1919 to 1920 by George Newnes Limited. It was published as a single volume in 1920. It reproduces every monochrome and full-color illustrations and period advertisements from the original series. In this history Wells chronicled the history of the world from the origin of the Earth to the First World War. It was enormously popular and sold more than two million copies, was translated into many languages, and had a considerable impact on the teaching of history in institutions of higher education [Wikipedia]. Although best known today for his utopian works and science fiction, Herbert George Wells (1866-1946) was prolific in many genres, writing more than fifty novels and dozens of short stories.
