Miss Read (Dora Saint) is an English school teacher who writes about Thrush Green and Fairacre, two fictional Cotswold villages. Her writing has been called a combination of Jane Austen and Barbara Pym. This is a stated first American edition from 1965. Red and gray paper boards bound at spine in maroon leatherette with gold lettering on spine only. Previous owners names on front free end page with minor foxing on both front and back end pages and the outer page edges. No other marking inside or out. Unclipped illustrated dust jacket is bright and clean but is reinforced at top and bottom of spine to prevent further deterioration. 236 pages. This is a very nice copy of the author's eight book.
