Green pebbled cloth with titles stamped on spine in gilt. viii, 558 pp. An exuberant 19th century travelogue of a European Grand Tour by the journalist author. His descriptions of the typographical wonders viewed at the British Museum are rhapsodic: "Besides these [incunabula Guild witnessed], and hundreds of other old books, enough to drive a bibliomaniac out of his remaining senses, were specimens of fine and sumptuous printing, some of which, in the fifteenth century, on vellum, were a little short of marvellous in execution, and unsurpassed by anything I ever saw in modern printing." (p. 239). ; 8vo 8" - 9" tall .
