About This Item

Florence, Italy: Contemporanea Progetti, 2007. Hardcover. VG. Black cloth, green & color illus. dust jacket, 113 pp., 44+ color plates. Issued in conjunction with several 2007-2009 exhibitions in the U.S. The 44 pieces shown here are variations on the theme of "landscape" -- "landscape intended in the widest sense, from the urban center with background piazzas and streets to scenarios in naturalistic settings. Venice, Naples, Florence itself are the most famous cities and the most frequently portrayed with their well-known landmarks. But there are also many paintings representing mountain ranges and countryside, placid waters and stormy seas, wooded bends and ancient ruins." (preface) A lovely book, even just to hold.
