New York: Lippincott, 1971. Endpapers have been professionally restored and book tightened. The first hardcover edition of this scarce Travis McGee mystery by MacDonald in the correct first state dustwrapper (with the $5.50 price at the bottom corner of the front flap of the dustwrapper and the number 971 on the top of the flap. Dustwrapper is very nice with a touch of scuffing to extremes (and a bit of loss to the bottom of the spine). The book is tight and clean and shows well. Laid in is a signed note to a friend of John's who was an executive at Eagle Clothes. . First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine/VG+.

Synopsis

Pale Gray for Guilt (1968) is the ninth novel in the Travis McGee series by John D. MacDonald. The plot revolves around McGees investigation in to the death of his close friend Tush Bannon, who he suspects was murdered to acquire his waterfront property when he refused to sell to developers. In terms of series continuity, Pale Gray for Guilt is particularly important in that it involves a love interest, Puss Killian, who is central to the final book: The Lonely Silver Rain.
