An important study of two ancient Chinese documents relating to America, with maps, cancel slip over imprint,158 pages. Inscription on front endpaper reads "Frank E. Taplin 1961 from Mrs. Robert Woods Bliss, Washington D.C.". Frank Taplin was a lawyer, philanthropist, poet and president of the Metropolitan Opera. Mrs.Robert Woods Bliss was the wife of Robert Woods Bliss an American diplomat, art collector, philanthropist, and one of the co-founders of the Dumbarton Oaks Research Library and Collection in Washington, D.C. Book has some mild damp stains to edges of the cloth, light bump to corners. Dust jacket in mylar, no chips or tears just some minor wear.
