A delightful chromolithographic menu for "The Palmer House" in Chicago., detailing a Sunday Five O' Clock meal for May 10, 1885, with such choices as Little Neck Clams, Green Turtle Soup, Halibut au Gratin, Corned Beef and Cabbage, Roast Beef, Calf's Head en Tortue, Salmi of Wild Duck, Sweetbreads with Mushrooms, Sorbet au Kirsch, Broiled Teal Duck, Fresh Lobster, vegetables; then desserts such as Birdsnest Pudding, Pieplant Pie, Tutti Frutti Ice Cream; concluding with cheese, fruit and beverages. The back panel contains a medley of illus., one a pond-side scene where a naked child in a sun bonnet is fishing, another depicts the Palmer House building, yet another advertises "American European Plans, 850 Rooms." A fine piece of Chicago culinary history. CONDITION: Very good, light wear at extremities.
