About the author

James Garbarino, Ph.D., is Codirector of the Family Life Development Center and Professor of Human Development at Cornell University, where Claire Bedard is a researcher. Garbarino is the author or coauthor of eighteen books including Lost Boys: Why Our Sons Turn Violent and How We Can Save Them. He, Claire Bedard, and their family live in Ithaca, New York.
