A very smart Knebworth edition of this work. Two volume collection of "The Parisians" from English novelist, poet, playwright, and politician, Lord Lytton. The novel is written as a social commentary on society, manners, and customs in Paris during the Victorian era. A best selling author of his time, Lord Lytton is also known for having coined the phrase "the pen is mightier than the sword" and the opening phrase "It was a dark and stormy night." 2 volumes, complete. Containing a frontispiece to each volume. Title page of each volume is signed by previous owner "R. Blake", an American management theoretician, known for his pioneering work in the field of organisational dynamics.(?). In publisher"s original cloth binding. Externally, smart. Gilt title to the front boards and spines. Some light markings to the boards and spine and very light rubbing to the extremities. Hinges are starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Endpapers slightly age-toned, otherwise pages are bright and clean. Frontispiece of volume 1 loosening slightly towards the head. Previous owner has signed title page of both volumes. Very Good
