About This Item
Venetia [Venice]: Appresso Giouan Battista Ciotti, 1621. Hardcover. 8vo., 329pp., [7 pp.]. In Very Good condition. Spine brown leather, brown label and gilt lettering. 3/4 bound in brown leather, marbled boards. Minimal to no shelfwear, ink writing in margins throughout, significant number of pages. 'N36' to first title page, page 39/40 has a small tear in the lower fore corner, minor age stains. Complete with seven plates; NOTES ON MARGINALIA: The vast majority of leaves have marginalia to 1-3 lines per page, with no more than 2 words per line. The leaves with the most marginalia include p. 47 (to 13 lines), p. 54 (to 16 lines), p. 87 (to 10 lines), and p. 116 (to 11 lines). (Photos of all 4 attached.) Happily none of the pages to this volume are heavily annotated. Though there are marginalia to just 3 lines on p. 298, the handwriting is significantly larger so I decided to include a photo of this page as well. Collation to misnumbered leaves is complete. Marginalia are to the following leaves: 15-22, 24-33, 35-38, 40-61 [p. 52 misnumbered "25"], 63, 65, 67-75, 77-83, 85-107 [p. 101 misnumbered "102"; "7" to p. 107 obscured], 109-129, 131-132, 134-136, 138-148, 151, 154-156, 158-166, 169-173, 175-178, 180-184, 186-188, 192, 198-199, 202-212 [pp. "202" and "203" misnumbered "102" and "103" respectively], 214-217, 224, 226-229, 231-232, 234-238, 240-242, 245-248, 250-253, 255-257, 260-262, 266-276, 281-284, 286, 288, 290-291 [misnumbered "190" and "191" respectively], 293 [misnumbered "193"], 295-296 [misnumbered "195" and "196" respectively], 298 [misnumbered "198"].
