About This Item
E Rutherford, New Jersey, U.S.A.: Putnam Pub Group, 1987. 1st Edition . Hardcover. Near Fine/Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. CIA analyst Jack Ryan goes up against an Irish terrorist group. Correct full number line sequence. True first printing with the following errors: p. 218 lacks "to keep track of" at the beginning of the first line, p. 228 repeats the last line of p. 227 and is missing text at the bottom of the page, p. 231 repeats the last line of p. 230, and p. 232 needs the phrase "'I can't say,'" at the bottom. No writing, marks, underlining, or remainder marks. Spine is tight and crisp. Boards are flat and true, and the corners are square. There is a bookplate on front pastedown endpaper, and the upper textblock edge shows the slightest bit of aging. Dust jacket is not price-clipped but does show some minor shelf wear including a 1/4" tear along the upper spine. Spine is a bit faded with the gun appearing blue and not brown and black. This highly collectible, near fine, first edition/first printing copy is protected with an archival mylar dust jacket cover. This is a great opportunity to own one of the late author's most well known works. Satisfaction guaranteed!
Synopsis
Patriot Games is a novel by Tom Clancy. It is chronologically the first book (predating the events in The Hunt for Red October) focusing on CIA analyst Jack Ryan, the main character in almost all of Clancy's novels. It is the indirect sequel to Without Remorse. The title comes from an Irish Rebel Song called The Patriot Game, an Irish ballad about the Border Campaign in Northern Ireland.
