Twelve colour plates, all with captioned tissue guards, and black-and-white illustrations in the text by Arthur Rackham. Original gilt decorated cloth, lettered in gilt. Decorated endpapers. Spine very slightly faded. Very good indeed. No dustwrapper.

Interesting and uncommon publisher's or salesman's sample or blad (book - or basic - layout and design), used as a form of pre-publication sales material for forthcoming books, in this case the American edition of Peer Gynt published by Lippincott. Original russet cloth, gilt lettered and decorated on front cover, back cover showing a sample of the spine for the trade edition (divided vertically with two blind rules, gilt lettered and decorated), top edges gilt, pictorial endpapers.
