Description

London: Hutchinson & Co; Publishers Ltd, 1968. . The mystery of the disappearance of the tiny, fifteen foot 'Puffin', crewed by David Johnstone and John Hoare in their attempt to row the Atlantic, captured the world headlines in Oct. 1966, and there has since been much speculation about the reasons for the tragedy. When Puffin was found in mid-Atlantic, frogmen discovered in the upturned hull a 35000 word journal in Johnstone's handwriting which gives a day-by-day account of vicissitudes which he and Hoare suffered. The Penance Way is based on this material. A generous list of illustrations provided - a section of photographs on semi-gloss stock and nineteen figures. Map endpapers. Gilt title print to spine of blue boards. A sound copy in a price-intact photo dust jacket.. First Edition. Hard Cover. Very Good/Very Good.
